Early on, there is social pressure for girls to look a certain way. Many begin dieting as teens, thinking that if we were thinner, we would be happier.
Having children can include infertility, pregnancy loss, and postpartum depression and anxiety.
Motherhood changes our bodies and identities, and consumes us while children are growing up. Many try to balance this with careers, often with exhaustion.
Midlife brings more transitions: empty nest, menopause. Some go through divorce, which may feel like starting life all over again.
As our parents age, daughters and daughters-in-law are usually the ones to manage their needs. Many women also nurse their husbands through long illnesses.
We care for everyone but ourselves… all while our culture tells us that our faces and bodies should not change as we get older.
